Growth hormone deficiency

Growth hormone deficiency (GHD) is a rare disorder caused by the inadequate secretion of growth hormone from the pituitary gland. GHD can be congenital, acquired, or can arise with no known or diagnosable cause (idiopathic). Childhood-onset GHD can result in slow growth, short stature, and maturation delays. In adults, GHD can manifest in various ways including, but not limited to, reduced energy levels, altered body composition, osteoporosis, insulin resistance, and lipid abnormalities (ie, elevated LDL).1
